A few days ago, ICv2 released its latest set of quarterly figures for for hobby channel sales of tabletop roleplaying games. As always, these figures are based on interviews with retailers, distributors, and manufacturers. The latest figures are for Fall 2016. No big surprises - the top four didn't change, while #5 switched from Green Ronin's Fantasy/Dragon Age to Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition. The hobby game market as a whole grew yet again in 2016, by about 10%, with the hobby being regarded as "now-mainstream" (that's hobby games as a whole - board, card, miniature, dice, and roleplaying games).

RPG Convention Season Is GO!

Convention season is upon us again. Even as we speak the GAMA Trade Show is going on in Las Vegas as the unofficial start to the year's gaming convention season. Over the next few months we have a number of gaming stretching from the Old School conventions of Gary Con and the North Texas RPG Con, to the larger conventions of Origins and, of course, Gen Con. The next few months are going to be a swirl of activity and work, as companies big and small ready their releases and presentations for the upcoming year.
Paizo today revealed the cover of it's latest Bestiary, the sixth of that name! The cover art is by Wayne Reynolds. The book itself is due out next month (April) and contains 200 new monsters, new player races, foes from myth and legend (including Krampus!) and a whole bunch more.
