What are you reading in 2024?

There was a stretch when the primary ghostwriter for that series was dropping all sorts of Lovecraftian Easter eggs into the novels. I adapted a few of them as audio drama, and they were more entertaining than most of the other novels I adapted (if occasionally kinda problematic).

Is my memory correct that those Dispatcher stories are only available as ebooks? I'm pretty sure I haven't seen them on the library shelves, at least.

    D&D 5E Running Tier 3 D&D 5e

If the nova thing is really a problem, the thought others have floated that you can frame in more combats seems workable. Setting up things where combat isn't the solution--not because a given entity is unkillable, but because killing them isn't gong to get what the PCs want--is another great...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I figure wherever you're from, you probably like the local doughnut shops, regional preferences are real, regional, and different; and freshness might trump overall recipes/quality, at least up to a point.

Man, some of y'all act as though you've never seen soup in a bread bowl before.

What are you reading in 2024?

It's possible. Starter VIllain had like no depth at all--by design, I thought--but The Kaiju Preservation Society seemed as though it was at least pointing at a couple of things, and the Interdepndency Series seems as though it may have some things to say (I read the first book, realized it was...

What are you reading in 2024?

My rhythm abides, so I have three new books: Every Hidden Thin by Ted Flanagan, a mostly conventional urban thriller with dual protagonists, I have a sense the one I liked better wasn't the one the author did; Starter Villain by John Scalzi, a pretty typical Current Scalzi Novel--which will be a...

Fact is, there's nothing wrong with liking pineapples on pizza, so long as you don't try to force the topping on people who don't like it. Fact is, there's nothing wrong with not liking pineapples on pizza, so long as you don't try to shame the people who like it. Me, I like pineapples on pizza...

What are you reading in 2024?

Still on my rhythm as far as reading, though it looks as though I have four recent books: Hummingbird Salamander by Jeff VanderMeer, a book that reads like an unreliable narrator telling her story of descending into insanity (at least until the last few chapters) told in clinically bloodless...

Alas, this does seem true. If it's good for GM, it's good for the USA, I guess.

There are so many reasons not to tell your GM you're not 100% digging the game--many of which are not being disingenuous--that I wouldn't be inclined to leap at any one of them as being the primary reason in all cases, let alone presume bad faith. In many instances, it's the same sort of...
