Certainly for me.
I prefer my OSR like RPGs to look and feel distant, ancient, and cold. B&W art is the perfect medium for that.

With so many great reverb pedals on the market, what about this one jumped out at you?
It sounds absolutely fantastic btw and don't want my comment to come off as "sounds just as good as any other reverb". Insight into why guitar players choose the gear they do interests me!
D&D's new "softer" aesthetic really isn't my thing, so always excited to see RPGs with creepy art that conveys just how dangerous and horrifying dungeon delving and/or studying the arcane would really be.

This of course is "older me" reflecting on the system I loved as a kid.
Truth be told, all my grade school friends and I did was rollup powerful characters to rob banks with, buy crazy gear, rob bigger banks, buy bigger, crazier gear, etc...
One thing I will say about the imbalance in power levels is that it lets you tell different kinds of stories within the same system/universe.
Taking out Gargoyles with your Triax buddies is going to feel completely different than sneaking through the sewers of Chi Town as a group of City Rat...
One thing I will say though, it adds a ton of charm and one of the reasons I'll have a copy on hand till the day I die. Having a ton of esoteric rules kind of adds to the "archaic feeling" of playing something ancient and fantastical IMO.

From my understanding, it came from a demand for more concrete rules from the fans... so he delivered in spades.
Also, there were lots of competing products at this time, so the "do whatever you want" attitude could risk sales (since you didn't need D&D to do that). Much safer to have...
Wow, that is something else. Hats off to those that actually use AC Adjustments in their games.
Now to go through all my AD&D OSR games and see how each one does things differently...
