D&D General Forgotten Realms, Greyhawk, and Canon: Stare Decisis in D&D

So while I also love the openness of Greyhawk for individual development, I also really appreciate the work that's was in that world previously -- Hommlet, Against the Giants, Vault of the Drow, Tomb of Horrors, Against the Slavers. I never played the later 2e adventures, so maybe it changed, I...

D&D General Forgotten Realms, Greyhawk, and Canon: Stare Decisis in D&D

I guess I got to the point where I asked myself "do I want to read volumes of backstory and niggly detail on political machinations between territories, or do I want to, you know, run some friggin adventures?" The backstory can be helpful, as long as it's an inspiration or a hook for a scenario...

D&D General Forgotten Realms, Greyhawk, and Canon: Stare Decisis in D&D

I wonder sometimes if those clinging so hard to letter of the law Canon are the same ones who can't actually get an adventure off the ground. Canonistas always struck me as embodiments of Analysis-Paralysis.

it’s also that movies in the theater in general aren't by doing that well right now. And it’s going to get worse. Any future will be in streaming.

D&D Movie/TV Paramount+ Will Not Proceed with Dungeons & Dragons Live-Action TV Show

I'm just not happy with The Boys story arc after the most recent season. Basically no progress and back to the same situation as the beginning.

D&D Movie/TV ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ Live-Action Series Not Going Forward At Paramount+, Will Be Revamped & Shopped By Hasbro

Watch Tbe Founder on Ray Kroc sometime. Gygax would make for a pretty fascinating biopic.

I don’t miss cable. At all. But hunting for content across different services is different than clicking through 1000 channels. I generally have an idea what I’m looking for though. YouTube is good for all purpose content.

I would expect huge artistic liberties to be taken, of course. I'm talking about a light framework with lots of room in the sandbox. So no hand tying other than to make sure it's recognizable as D&D. Fallout had to work within a framework, too.

D&D Movie/TV ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ Live-Action Series Not Going Forward At Paramount+, Will Be Revamped & Shopped By Hasbro

Yeah it’s important to pick a setting and stick with it for a show. you’d also have to decide whether to play up an established traditional storyline or play up the collaborative nature and story as you go, which is much harder, even unique for prime time. for that, you might be forced to show...

Arkham: Review Call of Cthulhu Sourcebook

Enworld should really open up a Reviews section of the forum. Great place to cross-pollinate all the good stuff coming out.

D&D Movie/TV ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ Live-Action Series Not Going Forward At Paramount+, Will Be Revamped & Shopped By Hasbro

Stepping back, I am thinking D&D would be better served by a mini-series than by a movie. It really is the preferred medium these days -- I mean, Fallout is basically a movie trilogy done in installments, and it serves the story so much better. The question is, what would be the best way to...
