D&D Movie/TV Paramount+ Will Not Proceed with Dungeons & Dragons Live-Action TV Show

Yes, but not just a wider audience of children: I'm not so sensitive myself, but I know plenty of perfectly mature adults who don't like explicit material at an R level. Restrictions like modern Chinese censorship and the Hayes code don't come from nowhere. Many adults will vote with their...

D&D (2024) Greyhawk Confirmed. Tell Me Why.

So, just out of curiosity, I checks and the cast swam is 22,799.4 square miles, or about 36692 square kilometers. A bit bigger than Croatia. Lots can be going on in there.

Well, sure, obviously. R rated stuff can be adult and mature, but so can G rated stuff (Straight Story, every movie made between the early 30's and 1968). The rating has no bearing whatsoever on whether a mature adult can find value in a piece, or an artist develop a piece of art pleasing to...

D&D (2024) Greyhawk Confirmed. Tell Me Why.

It is a large area full of mystery, in fact, eqsy enough to slot a Dragonborn societyinto this juat as WotC did in Eberron a couple years ago tona similar area: That was 4E lore, 5E Dragonborn have much more vague and open lore. They are related to Dragons, but not necessarily to aome ancient...

Oh, another point in favor of the Vast Swamp: In the 5E Eberron treatment, Drwgonborn are commonly from the jungle region of Q'barra, and the text actually says they have been there all along but went unnoticed because most people nearby juat thought the Dragonborn were Lizardfolk. So...

D&D (2024) How Does Greyhawk Fit In To The New Edition?

It wasn't bad stuff, but...it didn't spark much when I gave it a go. Not like the OG Greyhawk material, or the Grey Box, or notably the FRCS. If WotC had put out something like the FRCS for Greyhawk and early in 3E, it would have had a better run as "default Setting" IMO.

Yup, or there could be Dragonborn among the Paynim, or seafarers from the East, or merchants from the far West...any number if explanations.

Apropos of nothing, has everyone here heard the good word of the ignore function on the forum? It is an amazing feature.

General audiences? Mostly babies who want to watch baby movies like the Maltese Falcon.

It has everything to do with the fact that most shows and films aimed at adults aim for TV-14/PG-13. R and MA are the exception, not the rule.

I think that is unfair to history textbooks.

I like Greyhawk, and have 3E era noatalgia...but that book did not spark joy.

It's not that different if you look outside of genre: top box office and viewership go to PG-13 and TV-14...and not juat with babies.

D&D General Forgotten Realms, Greyhawk, and Canon: Stare Decisis in D&D

IMO, it's an issue of fracturing the audience: because eberron has a set, immovable start date, it doesn't matter when a table starts using Eberron material: stuff from 3E, 4E and 5E is working off of the same starting assumptions. Anyone who has been running FR or GH for decades...will have...
